Zoom-ing Under the Shadow of the Gilded Buddhas
South East Asia Class Update
Yep, we’re covertly ministering, (“zoom-ing”) below the shade of the golden buddhas and under the radar of the Gospel-hostile regime in (place withheld for security). Two nights a week, three hours a night, over five weeks, we’re training 26 young leaders to be people of Hope and Grace in a land that is profoundly impoverished both physically and spiritually. Over 97% of the people in this S.E Asian country are Buddhists. As a result, there is little hope for the people under the shadow.
The Story of “H” and the Bible College
“H” (name withheld for security) does not know how old he is. His parents died when he was very young, and he was raised by an uncle who did not want him to go to school. Instead, the uncle used him as a servant to watch his biological children.
“H” would walk to the school, barely clothed, and sit outside the building… listening. He remembers when the teacher came out and gave him a three-inch long pencil and something to write on. This changed everything.
Later “H” graduated from Bible College and planted a church after reading several books by Gene Getz. He wrote Gene a letter and, believe it or not, the missions pastor from the church flew to Myanmar and visited him. Eventually, “H” started his own Bible College with the vision to train up pastors and ministry leaders. “H” leads the school (and an orphanage that cares for 35 needy kids) to this day. {Hat tip to Mr. R.S. for sharing some of this story}
Local Update
I’ve had the blessing and JOY of preaching for the last 2 weeks at Encounter Church in Ventura. They needed a guest teacher as they wait for the arrival of their Pastor, next month. It’s great to be available to serve and help local churches! Videos of the sermons can be found at my website, www.chuckk.org. I’m so grateful to you. Your generous support allows me to serve where and when the Spirit leads.
Thursday, August 18, was a Mega-Mentoring Day! I met with three pastors/leaders separately in the US, Rwanda, and Malawi for coaching, care, and council. One-On-One pastoral ministry is a regular part of our ministry, and three in one day = impact. Again, thank you for making it possible!
Upcoming Trainings
In September, I’ll be teaching 100 +/ - Key Leaders across UGANDA / KENYA online. I’ll be teaching a class on Bibliology, one of the most important things I can teach them.
My three-week-long CAMBODIA trip is approaching late October and most of November. I’m excited to have my old pal, Pastor Andy Wulff, come teach with me! I can’t wait to get in the air and over there, beneath the shadow of the Bodhisattvas.
Prayer
► Please pray for divine guidance for my 2023 ministry planning and budget preparation to fund the ministry through the end of 2023.
► Please pray for my daughter Carly. She has been very sick for five years. She is scheduled for surgery on September 1st. They will perform a hysterectomy and scar tissue removal with the hope that it will heal her from her chronic pain. Pray for healing and life-changing relief for Carly-girl!
► Pray for a safe and sane motorcycle trip with my buddy, Pastor Allen Coleman as we travel around Nevada, Arizona, and Utah to get in the wind, unwind and get ready for all God has next for our ministries! Watch it unfold in photos on my website and Facebook.
